BYU's award-winning all-female a cappella group, Noteworthy, has released a new music video for their cover of "Saturday." The song was originally written and performed by Boston-based retro-pop/soul band Couch.
"Saturday" is an upbeat, relatable track that explores the tension between rest and responsibility – a theme Couch knows well. Several of its members balance full-time jobs alongside their music careers. Couch guitarist Zach Blankstein explained that the song captures the internal tug-of-war many people feel: even when someone finally gets a moment to unwind, a lingering to-do list can make it hard to fully let go and relax.
That candid, everyday struggle is part of what makes "Saturday" resonate so widely, especially amongst college students. The members of BYU Noteworthy have to juggle a rigorous rehearsal, performance, and touring schedule alongside their studies and jobs. It's a poignant reminder that we can't measure our lives by lists. We have to focus on what truly matters.
Noteworthy, recognized as one of BYU's premier vocal ensembles, is made up of seven female vocalists. The group made history in 2007 by winning the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA), becoming only the second all-female ensemble to do so in the competition's nearly 35-year history. Since then, Noteworthy has appeared on NBC's The Sing-Off, released seven albums, and amassed more than 150 million YouTube views. Beyond their musical achievements, the group is committed to empowering women and young people to discover and embrace their own voices.
This music video was made possible in part through the generous support of 1-800 Contacts, whose partnership has helped Noteworthy continue producing and sharing music with audiences worldwide.
